Purpose

The purpose of this submission is to feedback to the Greater Wellington Regional Council on their draft annual plan for 2026-2027. 

Summary of DPA submission

DPA made several asks in this submission: 

1. Continuing and not cutting flood protection works, particularly following the Wellington floods of April 2026. 

2. Oppose proposed cuts and delays to funding for Ngā Waka Tumatanui – Metlink Public Transport as this will adversely impact upon disabled people who rely on public transport. 

3. Opposing any cuts to environmental funding, especially for community-based programmes. 

4. That spending on civil defence and emergency management is maintained post-Wellington floods to deal with future emergencies.
