Bill amending the Local Government Act enabling Auckland Council to resume responsibility for public transport planning and funding. 

Summary of DPA submission

Recommendations: 

1. DPA supported passing the Bill with amendments as it returns responsibility for transport decision making to Auckland Council from Auckland Transport, something called for by local disabled people. 

2. DPA asked that the Bill be amended to facilitate, through 30 Year Transport Plans, the development of accessible, inclusive, integrated and climate friendly transport systems. 

3. DPA asked that the Bill be amended to ensure that consultation over the 30 Year Plans is conducted in accessible ways and formats. 

4. DPA recommended that the Bill be amended to integrate environmental, social, cultural and economic considerations into its transport policies.
