Purpose

The purpose of this submission was to feedback to the Dunedin City Council on their draft annual plan from a disability perspective. 

Summary of DPA submission

DPA made several recommendations in the submission: 

1. That council mitigate the impact of proposed rates rises through advising people of the availability of rates relief. 
   
   
2. That council does not cut any frontline council services as a lurch into austerity will create false economies. 
   
   
3. That disabled people and disability organisations are involved as a key stakeholder group in any consultations about the re-prioritisation and/or re-scheduling of any planned accessibility works or projects during the coming financial year. 
   
   
4. That the DCC look at bringing in free swims for disabled people at all pools in the DCC area upon presentation of a medical certificate.
