Accessibility statement
Disabled Persons Assembly New Zealand Inc. (DPA) is committed to advocating for accessibility and inclusion for all.
This commitment includes providing accessible information on our website for the wider disability community.
We aim to apply the relevant web accessibility standards and are improving our website continually to make sure it is accessible for everyone.
Accessibility features
Here are some features we have implemented to support accessibility. You should be able to:
- use common screen readers to navigate most content
- navigate using a keyboard or keyboard alternative
- access captions, transcripts and audio description for most multimedia content.
Compatibility with technologies
Our website is designed to be used with common assistive technologies like screen readers, magnifiers, navigation switches and speech recognition software.
Our website has been tested with the following assistive technologies:
- Windows 11 / JAWS 2022 / Chrome (latest)
- iOS / VoiceOver / Safari (latest).
What we need to improve
While we have done a lot to make this site accessible, we have some known issues that we are still working on.
Our known issues are:
- PDF documents may not be accessible. Information in PDF format will be provided in either HTML or a Word document.
- In video content, some Māori text is translated in open captions but is not translated in the audio track.
- When errors are present in a form, error messaging and keyboard focus management is not as clear as it could be. Users should explore the form to find inputs with error messages.
How we use accessibility standards
Our aim is for this website to meet WCAG 2.2, Level AA standards as outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
This website was reviewed by Intopia, an independent digital accessibility agency in March 2025, and was found to partially meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 Level AA.
We welcome your feedback
If you find anything on the site difficult to use or think there are ways we can improve, please let us know. Feedback is welcome and will be carefully considered.
